Chicken Salt is Australia’s favourite seasoning. This recipe uses a mix of key flavours to match the taste the salt is known for. It can be used on anything from fish and chips, to popcorn, to, yes, chicken. Try it on our roasted chicken recipe.
The seasoning was originally created by Peter Brinkworth, a chicken shop owner in South Australia. Brinkworth told The Guardian that the salt was born out of experiments over how to improve his chickens’ flavour. It is now sold across the country under various brands and is freely available in supermarkets.
The seasoning gets its vibrant colouring from the turmeric. To make it in larger quantities just double or triple the recipe. If you don’t eat chicken you can omit the chicken stock and increase the other ingredients to make up the taste.

- 1 tablespoon of tumeric
