2 slices of white bread
1/2 yellow onion
Tomatoe sauce to taste
Salt and pepper to taste
2 teaspoons of ghee, butter or olive oil
1. Prepare to caramelize the onions. If you are indoors you can heat one teaspoon of the ghee, butter or olive oil in a pan over medium heat and then add the chopped onions and mix them together with the fat. Stir every 10 minutes or so to stop the onions from burning. The process can take as long as an hour.
Alternatively, at a barbeque you can mix the fat and the onions in an aluminium packet and place it over the grill, leaving a hole at the top for any steam to come out. Stir it every 10 minutes to make sure it doesn’t burn. Keep cooking until they are a golden colour and smell caramelised.
2. Barbeque the sausages using either a grill, or a pan. Heat one teaspoon the fat with the sausages depending on your cooking style.
3. Place the sausages in a slice of white bread and top with the onions. Add tomatoe sauce, salt and pepper to taste, and enjoy!
